to the National Museums Board
(NMB)
website.
The National Museums Board
of Zambia,
a corporate body which
has a principal role of preserving the
nation.s history and movable heritage which
is vital in the maintenance of the nation.s
identity and pride
was
established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter
174 of the Laws of Zambia.
The Board
is mandated to collect, document, present to
the public and to preserve for posterity
Zambia.s movable heritage.
Being an institution, entrusted with the
custodianship of the unique and diverse
heritage of Zambia, the Board through its
museums plays a critical role in the
unification of Zambia and hence contributing
to the peace the nation has enjoyed.
It is one
of the statutory Bodies under the parent
Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Natural
Resources. There are four national museums
in Zambia namely

in Ndola,
Livingstone Museum in
Livingstone,
Lusaka National
Museum in Lusaka and
Moto Moto
Museum in Mbala. There are
two privately owned museums namely Choma
Museum and Crafts Centre in Choma and Nayuma
Museum in Mongu.
As you
browse through this website you are
requested to make your comments in the
guest
book as these are useful to us. Now I invite
you to take a tour of our museums and we
hope after this tour you will find time to
physically visit them.
